There are several ways to lessen how much pain you have when your arthritis acts up.
Some of them are preventative:

Lose weight: Extra pounds add stress to your joints,

Eat a healthy diet. Not only will that help you keep those extra pounds off, but there are certain vitamins that specifically help arthritis.

Vitamin C repairs tissue,

vitamin D absorbs calcium, builds bone mass, and prevents bone loss

calcium strengthens your bones.

Practice moderate exercising. it will strengthen your joints and increases flexibility and stability. Those with rheumatoid arthritis need to refrain from exercising during flare ups. You should only exercise to the point where you feel mild discomfort. You should not feel pain.

Get plenty of sleep. Patients with arthritis should get 8 to 10 hours of sleep.

Treatments to help with the pain and inflammation

When your arthritis does flare up there are different treatments to help with the pain and inflammation. One common treatment is use of medication. As certain types of medications can have serious side effects, you need to weigh the pros and cons with your doctor. Ice packs can help with swelling and inflammation, but people with circulatory problems should avoid this. You can also use a heating pad or take a hot bath or shower. Patients with arthritis may sometimes use splints, braces, canes, or walkers for stability.

Adjustments you can make in your home

Some of them will be able to ease your arthritis: a “grabber” can help you get a can out of the cupboard or pick up laundry off the floor. Replace faucet handles that twist and round door knobs with levered handles. Don’t overdo it. Tiring yourself out can especially provoke flare ups for people with rheumatoid arthritis. Take breaks and don’t feel like you have to do everything in one day.

If you are in a situation where you don’t move around a lot, it could affect your arthritis also. Sitting at a computer desk for 8 hours a day can stiffen you up. Be sure to take a break to move around and do stretches. If available, use a trackball instead of a mouse and a split keyboard. If you have the right software you can use “macros” to store frequently used words and phrases. This will save on your typing. Again, take it easy. You don’t want your arthritis to flare up from overextending yourself.

Arthritis can be painful and limiting.

Many people have experienced it in one form or another. There are several treatments including medications, exercise, diet, and lifestyle changes. Even sleeping habits and mood changes can affect arthritis. There is no direct correlation between how severe your arthritis is and how much pain you feel.

There are many things you can do to prevent or lessen an arthritis flare up. It is important to do your part. It is equally as important to check back with your doctor for advice as well. Don’t be afraid to ask for help and check with your local Arthritis Foundation to see what resources are available to you.

Osteoarthritis is the breakdown of cartilage in the joints. This is followed by chronic inflammation of the joint lining. Typically this disease affects the hands, feet, spine, hips, and knees and results in limited movement of the affected joint.

Osteoarthritis is commonly associated with aging though there are factors which result in people being afflicted sooner rather than later. Factors that increase the risk of osteoarthritis development include obesity, genetic factors, injury of the joint, continued stress due to physical activity and neuromuscular disorders such as diabetes.

Treatment

There is not treatment to stop or repair cartilage loss once it has been damaged, but there are methods to treat the painful symptoms associated with the onset of Osteoarthritis. These may include dietary supplements, alternative treatments, mechanical aids, weight reduction, exercise and physical therapy or applying heat or ice to the affected area.

Prevention

There are things you can do to guard against the onset of osteoarthritis. These preventative measures include:

•	Maintaining a healthy weight
•	Doing regular, gentle physical activities such as walking, stretching, swimming or yoga on a consistent basis
•	Avoiding joint injury or repetitive motions, especially as you approach and exceed 40 years of age
•	Take your vitamins! Taking vitamins to make sure you are receiving optimum levels of joint health vitamins and proteins such as magnesium, potassium, glucosamine and chondroitin.

There are over hundred different classifications of arthritis and the symptoms vary from type to type. The most prevalent symptoms arthritis of different types would have are listed below.

Osteoarthritis starts with pain in the joints and stiffness which is progressive with almost no evidence of swelling, fever or chills whilst the patient conducts normal day to day activities. This condition is also referred to as arthrosis, degenerative joint disease or degenerative arthritis. It starts with a low grade inflammation resulting in joint pain that is caused due to the cartilage (covers the bone and functions like a cushion in between joints) being worn out. As the protection offered by the cartilage decreases, pain is felt by the patient when weight is to be born by the bones, and this would include activities as simple as standing and walking. With a decrease in movement caused by the pain, ligaments tend to become slack and muscles around the affected area can start to deteriorate.

Rheumatoid arthritis is conventionally looked upon as a disorder which has the body’s immune system attacking the body. The symptoms arthritis of this kind has starts off with inflammation, pain and the fingers, wrists, arms or knees becoming stiff on both the sides, especially upon waking up. This condition involves lot of inflammation and pain being caused to the patient. This can result in the patient’s mobility being restricted considerably. It is a systematic condition that can affect different tissues of the body like the muscles, skin, lungs, heart, etc. After ten years into the condition, approximately 60% of the patients’ ability to work is lost.

Infectious arthritis is caused by bacteria, viruses or fungi. Symptoms arthritis of these types carry will vary depending on what is the cause of the inflammation. If the inflammation is caused by bacteria, the patient can experience chills and/or fever and the swelling and pain is generally limited to one place, appearing quite suddenly. If the cause is a virus, fever is normally absent, but the pain could be experienced throughout the body. Symptoms arthritis caused by fungi would appear in the form of a very slow progression of the swelling and pain, which could extend to months in some cases. The swelling and pain could be limited to one area or not, and mild fever can also be a possibility.

Juvenile arthritis is the most prevalent form of arthritis. The symptoms arthritis of this variety displays include appetite loss, sporadic fever, loss of weight, blotchy patches on the legs and arms or anemia. An arthritis remedy and diagnosis in this case would depend upon whether the patient is a child or an adult. While recovery in some cases is complete, in others it remains a life long condition.

Gout arthritis is a condition where there is a build up of uric acid within the blood which results in the formation of crystals in joints as well as other parts of the body. Symptoms arthritis of this category carries are unexpected severe attacks that generally occur in the patient’s big toe; however, any of the patient’s joint could be involved.

The most common type of arthritis is Knee Arthritis, since knee joint is the major weight bearing joint and most commonly used joint, because of which complications arise most commonly.

An Arthritis Remedy can be found for almost all forms of arthritis if medical attention is sought at the preliminary stage.

Recognizing and identifying the symptoms of Rheumatoid Arthritis is extremely important in order to provide proper diagnosis and treatment before this disease causes irreparable damage. This chronic conditon has no known cure and causes the body’s immune sytem to attack its own connective tissue. The protective cartilage that acts like a cushion between the joints is affected, causing pain, inflammation, and damage; injury to other organs such as lungs, heart and eyes may occur as well.

Depending upon the activity of the disease, or the individual patient, the symptoms of Rheumatoid Arthritis can be mild or severe. Common symptoms may include:

- Joint pain and stiffness in joints usually on both sides of the body (symmetrical)
- Fatigue
- Fever or flu like symptoms
- Morning stiffness lasting more than 20 minutes
- Muscle aches
- Swelling, redness of joints
- Chest pain that comes with coughing or deep breathing
- Chest pain when laying down or bending forward
- Nodules under the skin around the joints where there is frequent pressure

Diagnosis should be done as quickly as possible by a specialist called a Rheumatologist. The doctor will review symptoms and medical history with the patient. A physical and x-rays will possible be performed in order to determine possible joint damage and severity of joint damage. Blood work is ordered to detect the abnormal antibodies called Rheumatoid factor (Rhf), which is commonly found in over 80% of rheumatoid patients. Another procedure which may done in the doctors office is an arthrocentesis. Fluid is extracted from the affected joint by a needle and syringe. It relieves pressure and provides a sample of joint fluid to determine whether another cause of arthritis is creating the problem such as gout or infection.

Treatment for Rheumatoid arthritis is commonly done in two ways, “first line” medication and “second line” medication. “First line” or fast-acting drugs, such as ibuprofen, aspirin or cortisone, are used to reduce pain and inflammation. The “second line” or slow acting class of drugs are used to prevent damage to the joint and to bring the disease into remission. Treatments such as gold shots, methotrexate or plaquenil are known to be effective “second line” drugs. Surgery may be required to repair joints in some patients with severe joint deformity.

There are many other ways a sufferer is able to keep discomfort at a minimum. Regular physical activity aides in maintaining a healthy weight which relieves joints from unneeded pressure, it also prevents muscles from atrophying and becoming lax. Many foods such as night shade may cause painful flare ups, keeping watch on what is being consumed may aide in preventing pain as well. Topical rubs and heating pads are known to provide comfort and soothe painful joints and muscles. Glucosamine, Vitamin D and calcium are just some of the dietary supplements that can be taken to promote healthy joints and energy.

Please consult with a health professional before beginning any new treatment or exercise regime. Early diagnosis and treatment can provide a happy, healthy and active life can be had despite Rheumatoid Arthritis.

People continue to live and enjoy life despite the many problems and troubles that come their way.? Maybe because most people believe that it is how a person makes his life that it becomes more beautiful, meaningful, and valuable to him and to everyone around him.? The same thing with illnesses, too, people should treat it as part of something.? But, Sometimes there are those who feel so down and hopeless when they feel or realize that they are too sickly to make a difference, which shouldn’t be the case at all.? A person must learn to find his meaning and his worth, to make everyone feel the same thing as well.

If those people afflicted with a certain illness or disorder, for example arthritis – would see it as a nuisance, problem, or disturbance, for him to do something more and something better, then it would surely be so much trouble for him.? However, for those who continued living with arthritis following them around, yet they still manage to enjoy and be happy, then that speaks highly of them.? Living with arthritis hovering one’s moves and gestures isn’t easy, but in time and with constant practice, one’s healthy, lively, and lovely lifestyle will just run into place.? The worry is not actually on “living with arthritis”, but rather on how one makes living with arthritis still a normal, exciting, and fun-filled way.? Why would one deprive himself of the many active adventures and wonderful activities that life has in stored for him?? It’s not actually painful living with arthritis, if one sees “other things” besides the pain and uneasiness that arthritis is known for.?

Living with arthritis is just like living with someone dear to you.? It’s there to remind you to take your vitamins and medicines.? It’s there to remind you to get up and do your set of exercises.? It’s there to remind you that you are just human.? One mustn’t see it as a weakness, but rather a strength that one must bear with and carry on throughout his life.? If you really think about it, living with arthritis in your body is actually a blessing for you to slowly enjoy life — to walk slowly, to breathe afresh regularly, to eat healthily, to stop momentarily — especially with the hectic things and schedule that life these days are showing you.

If you think that living with arthritis is hard because you can’t enjoy the rough, tough, and rugged activities that you once enjoyed doing, that you can’t skip, jog, hop, and run the way you used to, that you can’t bend, carry, stretch, and turn the way you did, think again…It may just be giving you a new picture of life — in a slow-motion film — gracing one activity at a time, one moment at a time, one event at a time. Living with arthritis is life’s way of showing you that some things are best enjoyed in a slow and gradual movements.

Arthritis Treatments
Generally found in the human body, glucosamine is an amino sugar, a small molecule which is synthesized internally and easily absorbed by the blood stream. It is a special form of sugar found naturally in the human body or prepared synthetically in a laboratory. It contains both sugar and protein, it is located in the joint cartilages and the amount found reduces as we age and creates pain in the joints. The Glucosamine supplement is delivered directly to joints and stimulates the proteoglycans present in the joints which is used in repairing cartilage.

Arthritis Symptoms

Animal based supplements are taken out from chitin or bovine cartilage, the hardened outer shell part of shrimp, crab and lobsters. In plant based supplement form the frequently used example is glucosamine hydrochloride which is manufactured by the plant Aspergillus Niger. Cartilage is repaired and Arthritis pain is reduced so it has an important role to play in the human body. Many Arthritis and specially Osteoarthritis can be treated by it. skin and face packs containing it remove blemishes tracks, dark spots and uneven discoloring. It can be used to soothe chapped lips and reduce the puffiness and sagging of eyes but generally helps eliminates unwanted pigments, scars and wrinkles in the skin. Bones, cartilages, tendons and connecting tissues all have this as a major component and it forms skin, bones, tendons ligaments, nails and parts of heart, synovial fluids etc.

Types of Arthritis

In order to healing their incision faster, patients undergoing surgery are given glucosamine supplement as it causes hyaluronic acid to be produced which heals injuries. It is essential for the formation of mucous that lines the urinary digestive and respiratory tracks. With Osteoarthritis, the cartilages of the human body degenerate and cause swelling and pain in the joints which is why Glucosamine is freely used in the treatment of Arthritis. Pain in sufferers who are severely attacked by Osteoarthritis is reduced when glucosamine supplement is given with chondroitin. A combined dose makes patients feel good, with less aching in the body and less stiffness in their joints as they start to function again.

Glucosamine supplements stimulate the production of cartilage and it prevents the further degeneration but it is also effective in the treatment of Arthritis in the jaw which is called the “Temporomandibular joint” (TMJ). One form, i. In some cases of stomach disorder such as Chron’s disease and ulcerative colitis this same type of Glucosamine is effective. This wonder chemical is the main component of many products and has a vital role to play.

Each type of arthritis disease (there are over 100), has a particular list of causes, symptoms, and intervention methods. Although each separate arthritic condition is very different, one of the most commonly reported symptoms is pain. This is why the issue of learning how to deal with arthritis pain is so very important.

Arthritis Type Of

There are many options available to you if you suffer with arthritis pain. It is recommended that you begin taking one of the milder forms of treatment and then move your medication up in strength if required. Medications which many of us already use on a regular basis such as Tylenol and Aspirin can be effective pain relievers. Sometimes, the painful symptoms caused by the disease can be treated successfully with this medication.

For more serious arthritis pain relief, you will want to try creams and gels, which are topical medications that are applied directly onto the skin, and which for the most part can just be purchased over-the-counter. Arthritic conditions such as tired, inflamed joints and muscles can be treated very capably with creams The active ingredients that are found in arthritic creams such as salicylate, capsaicin or menthol, make them very effective. Arthritis medication, which can only be prescribed to you by a medical professional is the most powerful pain relief available.

The type of drug most commonly prescribed is analgesics. Even those with allergies and stomach problems are safe to take these drugs and the pain relief they offer is effective. In the majority of cases the analgesic prescribed is acetaminophen, a fabulously effective and affordable drug. Very successful pain relief for patients in extreme pain could be treated with a combination of acetaminophen and codeine. However, this should only ever be taken under the authority of a medical professional.

It may take a bit of time to find the particular form of arthritis pain relief that works best for you, but once you do find it, it will all be worth it. Just make sure that you stick to your doctor’s dosage instructions and that you keep in close contact with them and keep them abreast of how the treatment is coming along.

Arthritis 101: How Carotenoids and Multivitamins can help

Article by Janet Martin Arthritis symptoms can be different for every patient. In fact, not everyone who suffers from it, will have the same degrees or severity of pain and discomfort. But one thing is for sure: if and when you suddenly experience having stiffness and pain in your joints, then it is definitely time to visit your doctor: you may be suffering from arthritis.

So what is arthritis? This disease can be made up of two dozen other disorders, at the very least. But the main indication that comes with it is the inflammation of your joints which brings about intolerable pain in the affected areas. Some arthritic attacks can be so unbearable that doing even the most ordinary tasks can prove to be impossible.

Arthritis is essentially triggered by the deterioration of the cartilage that cushions the joints. As you know, your cartilage acts as your body’s very own shock absorbing system. But when it becomes eroded or damaged due to injuries, poor food choices, natural aging process and even too much usage, the bones in your joints will begin to rub against each other unprotected and less lubricated.

This rubbing action is the source of all the pain and discomfort associated with arthritis. Just imagine your bones gnashing on each other every time you move and you can already feel the pain. The good news is that there are ways that you can minimize your risks of suffering from this disease.

Stop Arthritis With Carotenoids

According to a research done at UK’s University of Manchester, certain forms of carotenoids found in food can significantly minimize one’s chances of developing or suffering from arthritis. The types of carotenoids that have been proven to alleviate the symptoms of the disease include zeaxanthin and beta-cryptoxanthin.

Beta-cryptoxanthin mainly acts as a precursor to Vitamin A. And your doctor can tell you how important Vitamin A is in improving the health of your skin and bones. With the proper amounts of the right carotenoids, your body will have ample supplies of Vitamin A; hence you can look forward to healthier bones and joints.

Traces of important carotenoids can be found in fruits or vegetables that are yellow or orange in color. Examples are lemon, kiwifruit, papaya, cantaloupe, yellow apples and peaches among others.

Relieve Arthritis With Multivitamins

Studies have shown that taking the right multivitamins can be good for patients who are suffering from arthritis. As you may well know, the food that you eat everyday may lack the necessary nutrients that can improve your joint and overall health. Multivitamins contain nutrients that would not otherwise be available for you by just relying on the salad or fruits on your plate.

But it is not enough to just pop any multivitamin capsule in your mouth. If you want to relieve the pain that you are experiencing due to arthritis, it is important that you choose multivitamin formulations that include substances essential to your bone health.

Stuff like thiamine, panthotenic acid, riboflavin and other derivatives of folic acid and B vitamins are important for the maintenance of healthy bone marrow and overall nervous system. Supplements that contain Vitamin D are also necessary to help in the proper development and ensure the strength of your bones.

If you are already into healthy diet, you have a much bigger chance of having enough essential nutrients for your joints. But again, this can be difficult to achieve; besides, you need to eat significant amounts of a particular health food for you to really reap the benefits, taking essential nutrients from multivitamins saves you from that trouble.

If you feel joint pains or stiffness in your fingers, ankles, feet, back or any other areas of your body, you can try supplementing your joints with joint formulas like Flexcerin. For more information about this product, visit http://www.flexcerin.com/.

Will Methotrexate Really Help Your Arthritis?

Article by Greg Marsh Methrotrexate is a medication that is given to patients to help treat the arthritis that they have. If you are given this type of prescription, you are likely to get an injection of it weekly, or sometimes it is given orally.

This medication is used to help your body to reduce the pain and inflammation in your joints as well as helps to reduce the speed at which the condition worsens. With the help of methotrexate, many patients are able to get back to doing the things they want and need to do without having to deal with the pain of doing so.

How Does It Really Work?

If you see your doctor, he or she should give you a vast description of the medication, telling you what it will do for your condition. If you have questions about how you will take it and how it will effect your particular situation, ask your doctor! In most cases, this medication is given as a tool to reduce the pain you are in and to help increase the body’s ability to ward off the progression of the condition. Believe it or not, it is not fully understood why methotrexate works in the fight against rheumatoid arthritis, but for some reason it does.

This is a DMARD type of drug, which is also called, a Disease Modifying Anti-Rheumatic Drug. That means that it works the production as well as the maintenance of DNA.

Will It Work For You?

Since all cases of arthritis are different and each one has its own reaction to medications, it can be hard to say what methotrexate will do for you. What you should know, is that it does work for many individuals that take it. One of the benefits of taking this medication over other arthritis medications is that it allows for only a small amount of side effects, most of which are tolerable. In addition, most find some favorable result in using this medication. Most that start on methotrexate will continue on it. In fact, some studies have shown that those that take methotrexate will continue on the same medications for three years or more in 50% of the cases. That is significantly longer than any other type of arthritis medication.

Another reason that you may want to consider this medication over others, is that it usually provides results that are fast. Some medications take months to see any benefits from them. Others will provide you with the necessary relief but it may be fleeting.

Methotrexate is not a cure for arthritis, though. Although it is one of the best tools in fighting the progression of this disease and the prevention of the destruction of your joints, there are some side effects that can play a role in you daily life. Such things as nausea, fatigue, skin rashes, and hair loss are some conditions you may face.

Take heart in the fact that methotrexate will provide you with some relief from your arthritis pain and discomfort. Although you may not realize it, this condition may be one that you can put in its place and get back in the driver’s seat of your life with.

Fast Forward To The Future—New Drugs For Rheumatoid Arthritis

One of the most frustrating aspects of rheumatoid arthritis is that there is no cure for the condition as of yet. Doctors and science continue to do research on what causes the painful joint inflammation, and what can be done to cure it. In the meantime, those who are affected must manage and treat their arthritis with various drugs.

Experts are also working the development of several new drugs for rheumatoid arthritis. The drug that is being developed will allow rheumatoid arthritis to be treated more efficiently at an earlier stage, and with fewer side effects.

Immune System Drugs

One of important things scientists have discovered in recent years, is the connection between the immune system and rheumatoid arthritis. Apparently, it seems that certain parts of the immune system protect from inflammation and joint damage; thus, by creating a new rheumatoid arthritis drug that focuses on these areas, symptoms could be reduced.

New rheumatoid arthritis drugs that focus on the immune system are known as biological response modifiers. Some potential biological response modifiers that would address rheumatoid arthritis include:

new TNF-alpha inhibitors,

drugs that prevent B-cells from causing inflammation,

drugs that block protein signals that cause inflammation,

and drugs that prevent inflammatory proteins from being developed.

Drugs With A Dual Purpose

Other new rheumatoid arthritis drugs being considered are those that are already approved for other conditions. Some of these drugs have been shown to control inflammation in the body. Antibiotics such as doxycycline and minocycline are currently being studied for this purpose. Others include: tacrolimus, cholesterol-lowering drugs, and drugs that prevent bone loss.

Gene Therapy Drugs

Gene therapy involves the development of new rheumatoid arthritis drugs that would instruct specific cells in the body to create more substances that protect against joint inflammation.

Other gene therapy drugs might instruct certain cells to produce less of a substance that is causing the inflammation. This research is far away from being implemented, and scientists are still in the early stages of this potential new treatment.

Worth The Wait

Although these new rheumatoid arthritis drugs are still in the early stages of development, the efficiency that they will contribute to the treatment of the condition is invaluable. For those people who suffer from rheumatoid arthritis, the relief of experiencing earlier treatment with fewer side effects is nearly immeasurable.

When these new rheumatoid arthritis drugs finally do make a public appearance, they will have been worth the wait.

Find The Best Natural Remedies Arthritis

Article by Dean Iggo. Natural remedies for arthritis may be the answer to your continuing problems with the condition.

For many arthritis sufferers, joint pain has become a way of life. Because of the rising costs of health care in this country, it can be hard to find relief when a doctor’s visit will set you back at least a few hundred dollars. If the doctor offers a prescription remedy for your pain, it can be several hundred dollars to find relief from your pain. By that time, though, you may need more relief from the pain you feel in your pocketbook than from the pain you feel from your arthritis.

The best way to handle the situation, then, first, is to investigate the many natural remedies for arthritis.

Chondrotin As A Cure

One of the most popular remedies you can use at home is chondrotin. Many scientists have made study of this natural product and found it to improve the way your bones are protected from impact.

Many people begin to have problems with arthritis when the cartilage in their bodies wears away due to age. Taking a regular chondrotin supplement can help conduct more fluid into your cartilage, helping it to take the shock of simple impacts on a daily basis.

You can find more information on chondrotin in many of the other articles on our website. You may also find a few places to purchase it if your local drug store does not carry it with their regular supplies.

Another fairly popular home arthritis cure is ginger. It has been shown by a number of health related studies that consuming herbs like ginger allow you the antioxidant properties your body needs to fight off common conditions like arthritis. As a result, whether you choose to take it in pill form or whether you decide to drink a cup of ginger tea each morning, you could find it is one of the best natural remedies for arthritis.

Dean Iggo is the webmaster of http://www.treating-arthritis.com a website providing the best arthritis product as well as unbiased reviews of popular arthritis remedies and gout treatment products.

May I Play Golf With My Arthritis?

Great news for those suffering from arthritis! Scientists have recently established that not only you won’t have to quit playing golf, but also that your favorite sport can even help improve the symptoms of arthritis (adding strength and mobility to your joints).

As we know, doing exercise is one of the best ways to treat osteoarthritis symptoms. It’s a pain reliever which is able to fantastically improve your mood, increase your flexibility, help you to ameliorate your cardiovascular system, to maintain your weight and to make you generally in better health!

All of the areas that osteoarthritis usually affects are used in playing golf

As we know, osteoarthritis normally comes on very gradually. First, joints may be sore after working hard physically or exercising. Any joint may be affected by osteoarthritis, but it usually occurs in the hands, hips, knees, or spine and they are all solicited when you play golf.

So, don’t let arthritis worry you. Playing golf can also help increase your balance and your range of motion. If you walk the golf course, you will benefit your health even more! That is why golf is one of the exercises that is recommended for someone with osteoarthritis!

Here is what you need to remember – there are many special products that are produced just to make golf easier on your joints and body.

The Arthritis Foundation or arthritis.org has some tips for arthritic golfers that can help you enjoy golfing and they even suggest products that can enable you to enjoy it even more!

Wrist braces and gloves are a great tool to wear when you play golf. Stabilizing the joints in your hands and wrists will help your osteoarthritis and both of these items are not very expensive.

A lower compression ball is also a great training aid.

Wearing spikeless golf shoes may be much more comfortable for you. There are new products introduced all the time. Ask your local golf store associate or golf pro if there are any products that they recommend to make golf easier on your joints.

One thing you must know and very important, is to always warm up before you play golf. Swing a few times for practice, and stretch your muscles. Swing half-strength at first and don’t try to hit the ball too hard. Everyone should warm up and start swinging slowly. A hard swing is not necessary, it is accuracy that is most important!

Use tees when you play golf. It will help.

Water is very important for any golf player while you are playing. When you begin to feel tired, rest a bit. It is not a rule that you have to play all 18 holes. You need to make sure you enjoy the game.

When you feel sore after you play, here are a few tips to relieve your pain and stiffness:

A warm shower can feel great on stiff muscles,

Gently stretch your muscles,

Apply an ice pack to any sore areas,

Sore joints need to be rested,

Magnetic therapy has been found to work.

Keep your weight at a healthy level. If you carry too much weight, it can make your hips and knees hurt.

If you are still in pain for more than 1 hour after playing golf, then you need to consult your doctor or physical therapist. Work with them to see if there are ways to adjust your game if you notice any of the following symptoms of over exercise:

Unexplained or chronic tiredness,

Feeling weak,

Decreased range of motion,

Joint swelling increases,

Pain that continues for more than one hour after exercising.

Actually, golf coupled with proper warm ups can really help your osteoarthritis and it is fun too!

Learning About Osteo Arthritis

The term arthritis does not refer to a single disease, but rather to a group of over 100 different forms of a disease, and in other words it is a sort of umbrella term that is used to refer to these medical conditions that affect the musculoskeletal system, specifically those joints where two bones meet.

While there are over 100 different forms of arthritis and those are only the ones known and recognized at this time, there are three in particular that are especially significant and common:

rheumatoid arthritis,

gouty arthritis,

and osteo arthritis

Osteo Arthritis is actually recognized as being the most common form of arthritis of all, and it is caused by the breakdown of cartilage in the body.

Over time the cartilage may actually end up wearing away entirely, and although osteo arthritis is a form of arthritis that is able to affect almost any joint of the body, it most often affects the hips, knees, hands and spine.

Although osteo arthritis is considered as being a non-inflammatory arthritis, meaning that it does not cause inflammation of the joints and muscles as most other types of arthritis do, this is actually not true, and although there is usually no swelling during the earlier stages of the disease, as it progresses there can be inflammation, and in fact is in almost all cases.

Diagnosis and Treatment

Before any method of treatment can be prescribed, a proper diagnosis has to be made. Establishing the correct diagnosis is vital, because treatment is available but only once this has been accomplished.

>>How to treat the underlying cause of arthritis, not just the symptoms<<

This is why as soon as you notice any of the signs or symptoms of the disease, or any form of arthritis for that matter, that you seek medical help immediately.

In terms of treatment for osteo arthritis, your doctor will usually start off with something milder, such as Tylenol or Aspirin and tell you to try that for a couple of weeks. If there are no signs of improvement or relief of your pain, then they will move on to something more powerful, such as arthritis creams and gels. These are applied topically, directly onto the skin and most are usually available over-the-counter.

Finally there are much more serious methods of treatment, namely arthritis medication that you may be prescribed, especially if your symptoms are causing you serious pain.

Codeine preparations are the most commonly recommended here, and this is a combination of codeine and acetaminophen.

Here is an extract of what she says on her website :The “Arthritis Industry” -The groups who earn millions of dollars with their expensive treatments for arthritis sufferers – DO NOT WANT YOU TO CURE YOUR ARTHRITIS!

Homeopathy

This school of healing takes as its motto “that which doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.” By taking a tiny bit of a natural substance – usually an herbal tincture – you can inoculate your body against certain pains and ailments. Homeopathy is a popular and nearly conventional healing system in Europe.

You can buy homeopathic remedies over the counter in any English chemist (pharmacy). However, don’t start popping these natural arthritis pain relief concoctions. They are powerful. Treat them with respect. You need to visit a qualified homeopathic healer before so you know what family of medicines to concentrate on. Unfortunately, most homeopathic remedies or office visits are not covered by current medical insurance plans.

Supplements

There are many touted arthritis supplements available over the counter, in pharmacies, health stores, major grocery stores, department stores or even to buy on line.

Many of them are a mix of traditional herbal medicines, including herbs, minerals and natural or synthetic body chemicals.

Some have been around so long they have an excellent record of bringing genuine natural arthritis pain relief. These are to be taken for long-term goals and not as a substitute for painkillers. The best ones are fish oils and glucosamine. Glucosamine is expensive, but really effective.

The Traditional Chinese Medicine

Traditonal practitioners of Chinese medicine have to medically train for years and need a license in order to practice. They often include a combination of acupuncture and herbs.

There are American trained healers as well as Chinese trained ones. None is considered better than the other. Check with your health insurance – more and more, acupuncture is sometimes partially covered. You might need to try conventional medicines and therapies and prove they don’t work for you before you can get financial coverage. You’ll need repeated appointments – just one won’t cure your arthritis.

Acupuncture is often a great relief for arthritic dogs, who often fall asleep during treatments.

Ankle Arthritis Can Affect Any Of The 30 Foot Joints

There are different types of arthritis but the most common, osteoarthritis is a degenerative disease that gradually reduces the cartilage in joints.

With the cartilage, the bones in the joint rake together and causes pain in addition to the prospect of bone damage. While arthritis can affect many joints, ankle arthritis is one of the most painful and the ankle and foot consist of 28 bones and about 30 joints, any one of which can lead to trouble walking due to the pain.

While arthritis can affect any of the joints, the most common is where the end of the shin bone rests on the top of the ankle bone. When a person is suffering ankle arthritis, their entire weight is placed on this bone and if the cartilage is worn thin or has been removed through disease, walking will be painful, if not impossible.

Ankle arthritis can also affect the heel bone, the middle bone or arch as well as the first joints of the toes. With the body’s weight distributed on these joints, there is bound to be pain regardless of which joint is affected.

A bone scan may follow a gait analysis to diagnose ankle arthritis, and may be followed by a bone scan to determine the extent of cartilage loss and to detect any bone damage. Magnetic Resonance Imaging or Computerized Tomography may also be used in the diagnostic process.

Conservative Treatments Used At Onset Of Ankle Arthritis

Most doctors will treat a newly diagnosed patient with ankle arthritis with anti-inflammatory drugs and painkillers. They may also recommend an arch support in the shoes or another similar device to help take some of the weight off the affected area. Custom-made shoes with a solid arch may also be needed to help stiffen the joint offering the most trouble.

Other Natural Arthritis pain Killer Here

The doctor may also suggest wearing a brace around the ankle to prevent the bones from sliding together as well as using a cane.

In patients that may be over weight, an exercise program to help them shed the extra pounds may be recommended. They may also treat the pain of ankle arthritis with steroid injections to help provide a temporary padding into the joint.

If the non-invasive treatments are not producing the desired effects to rid the pain of ankle arthritis, arthroscopic surgery may be used to peer into the joint and remove any unwanted bone fragments that have worked their way into the cartilage areas of the joint.

The most severe cases of ankle arthritis may require replacing the joint with an artificial one made of metal and plastic.

“Painless” Arthritis Care is the Best for Patients

In many respects, the human body resembles a machine. We charge our cell phone’s battery when it needs energy, while we get a refreshing night’s sleep when we feel exhausted. We can fill our vehicles with fuels of various qualities, while different types of food provide us with varying degrees of nutritional value.

Also, we take our vehicles to mechanics when they are not functioning properly, while we visit a physician when our bodies suffer from an ailment. Likewise, arthritis care can provide us with relief for an excruciatingly painful condition.

Aspects of Arthritis

Before addressing arthritis care, we must first discuss the nature of arthritis itself. Arthritis is a swelling of a particular joint, which exists in different forms. It usually originates from causes such as trauma, and disorders involving metabolism. Meanwhile, symptoms of arthritis consist of swelling, stiffness and pain. When treating arthritis through arthritis care, the objectives always include:

Avoiding work disability

Decreasing the danger of treatment

Impeding the development of the disease

Improving one’s quality of life and ability to live independently

Instructing patients

Reducing swelling and pain

Answers for Arthritis

These goals can be met by implementing different methods that are based on a doctor’s opinion. Arthritis can be handled efficiently through arthritis care, by using a mix of joint safeguarding, alternative and traditional medicines and treatments and alternations in our lifestyle, food, exercise, rest, and diet.

However, how do physicians determine which particular treatments to use in arthritis care?

The factors that are considered include the disease’s progression, the patient’s past reaction to various therapies, and the physician’s diagnosis. Furthermore, it should be noted that what is considered an effective or optimum treatment can alter with time.

This is due to a phenomenon in which past treatments may become fruitless as time passes. Other factors that may influence the arthritis care for a sufferer could include the adding and deleting of medications, drugs’ clashes with other treatments, other medical ailments, side-effects, and new treatments.

One’s insurance plan and coverage should also be well thought-out, when determining the ideal arthritis care for a patient. Factors such as affordability and coverage may ultimately dictate the type of treatment received.

In addition, the patient’s preference should be regarded, if they can be obliged. This factor is directly linked to a patient’s lifestyle. For instance, one’s age and level of activity could influence which treatment best caters to the patient’s need.

Today, arthritis remains a potentially devastating disease that millions of people suffer from. Thus, determining the best arthritis care for patients serves as a worthwhile task.

Beyond Medical Treatment—Natural Cures For Arthritis
Despite the many improvements made in medical technology, researchers and doctors have failed to find a medical cure for arthritis.

Instead, sufferers of the condition are forced to carefully monitor and manage their arthritis with one or more of the many medical treatments available.

However, some people affected with the condition, turn to other ways of addressing the pain.

Natural remedies and cures for arthritis are an increasingly popular way to relieve the pain and inflammation. Despite skepticism, regarding the effectiveness of natural arthritis cures, many have found them to be a successful way to live a happy, pain-free life.

Natural Arthritis Cures

One common herb that is used to cure the condition is nettle leaf. The use of nettle leaf originated in Germany, and it works due to the many different active compounds that it contains, which include COX and lipooxygenase inhibitors.

Ginger is another herb that has a long-standing tradition of being used to cure arthritis. Ginger has a few medically active components, and it is known for fighting prostaglandins, which are sometimes responsible for muscle pain.

Other plants commonly used in arthritis cures.

These include boswellia and white willow bark. Boswellia is comprised of anti-inflammatory triterpenoids called boswellic acids. The plant is able to reduce inflammation by preventing the production of proinflammatory chemicals.

White willow bark is comparable to aspirin in its pain-killing abilities. White willow bark contains glycoside salicin, which is the compound responsible for its pain-relieving affects.

Other plants, such as wintergreen and meadowsweet, also contain this compound.

Omega-3 fish oils and antioxidants are two other natural arthritis cures. Omega-3 fish oils contain essential fatty acids, which are converted by the body into series 3 prostagladins. These prostagladins have anti-inflammatory properties. Antioxidants, while they might not cure arthritis, have been proven to prevent the condition before it becomes a problem.

Preventing The Problem—Naturally

One known factor that affects arthritis is diet. Whether or not you are affected by arthritis is often a result of what you are eating. By eating a healthy diet, you can prevent arthritis before it becomes a major problem.

Future Findings

Although there are no medical cures for arthritis at this time, many natural arthritis cures are just as effective. Who knows—perhaps in ten years, research will have discovered enough to develop an arthritis cure.

Faced with a future full of possibility, we must be content with natural remedies until then.

Arthritis Exercise May Actually Reduce Joint Pain
When a people first realizes they have arthritis exercise, it may be the furthest thing from their mind. They have felt the pain from the degenerative disease and after reading up on it may believe that exercising may actually cause additional pain.

However, most doctors recommend that those with arthritis exercise regularly to help reduce the affects it can have on the joints.

One of the first things doctors tell to their overweight patients, is that arthritis exercise can help them lose excess weight, taking some of the load off the affected joints. Regular, moderate exercise can help maintain mobility, reduce stiffness and increase flexibility and stamina.

The operative word is moderate as high-impact exercises such as running and jumping may increase the pain from the bones in the affected joints rubbing together. Additionally, arthritis exercise programs performed in the water can help maintain the exercise regimen while limiting the stresses placed on the joints.

When first considering an arthritis exercise plan, many people will continue to put off starting, but the important think to remember is to begin slow and work their way up to more demanding exercises. Beginning with stretching and exercises designed to improve flexibility will help maintain the motion needed for everyday activities around the house.

Having access to a swimming pool can also be a benefit as when in the water the weight is reduced on the knees, hips and ankles and water exercising can help get the body ready for more strenuous workouts.

Comfort Is Key To Exercise Program

As a person progresses through an arthritis exercise program, and feels more comfortable performing the exercises, they can move into weight training. This can help build up the muscles around the joint, which will take some of the stress from the bones and reduce the amount of pain associated with arthritis. Simply short walks will help build the leg muscles and learning yoga can help with flexibility.

In fact the most important aspect of arthritis exercise plans is that they consist of low, or non-impact activities.

Exercise can also help strengthen the heart muscles and help reduce the possibility of coronary problems. Many who shun the thought of an arthritis exercise plan will end up living a stagnant lifestyle, which can create other health problems unrelated to the arthritis. While the excuse that exercising causes arthritis pain to grow worse may seem plausible, not exercising can actually cause the pain to become for consistent.

Some form of low-impact exercise will help reduce the pain and strengthen the joints to help the patient live better with arthritis.

Article by Freddic A novel pharmaceutical drug for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) has been found to be both safe and effective in its late Stage III trials. The drug is reportedly being developed by Johnson & Jonson and Schering-Plough.

Golimumab, the drug being tested is an immunosuppressive drug that targets tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-alpha), which is a pro-inflammatory molecule.

Objectives Met During Trials

During the first two trial the anti-TNF medicine was successful in reducing symptoms of (RA) by at least 20 percent, which was also the main objective of the trials.

Further, a unique result of the trial was that after 14 weeks of drug therapy, the drug provided relief even to those patients whose condition didn’t respond well to some standard anti-TNF medicines.

This very fact raises hopes for some 20% of the patients whose conditions aren’t controlled well by the existing drugs. The muslculoskeletal system drug once launched, is meant to be delivered to patients on a month basis. Eventhough it doesn’t belong to a completely new class of drugs, the molecule is surely a freshman to the family of anti-TNF formulations.

The most commonly reported side effect of the drug was a mild irritation where it was injected, overall it was well accepted in patients.

Unmet Objectives During Trials

Despite the overall success of the drug, it fell short of meeting the objectives of another Stage III trial, wherein it couldn’t relieve symptoms by at least 50% in patients who hadn’t been treated previously with methotrexate, an old oral medicine. However, the symptomatic relief by at least 20 percent was replicated successfully.

Article by Dr V. Rajgopal Having been diagnosed with arthritis need not necessarily spell doom! Arthritis is a chronic and debilitating disease that affects the joints in the body. There are several treatments for arthritis ranging from prescription drugs to natural remedies.

There are several arthritis alternative remedies like physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, magnets, reflexology among a host of other modalities. This article gives you some information as to what you can do to help you manage arthritis better on your own till you get advice from your doctor or help from other sources.

Tip #1: Keep On Moving.

This is the foundations of pain management. Although it’s painful for most arthritis sufferers to stay active, you need to be mobile every single day in order to keep your current range of movement. Even if you can only manage a ten minute walk daily, those ten minutes will do wonders for your mood, joints and pain in the long term.

Tip #2: Don’t Push Yourself.

Take stock of what you can and what you cannot do. This is the fundamental principle to living with arthritis. Try to find out new ways of doing the same thing without hurting yourself. This might mean purchasing assistive devices (special can-openers for instance), losing weight or using the larger joints (such as your hips) instead of the smaller ones (such as your back) to lift things.

Tip #3: Stay Tuned.

There is a gamut of research in the realm of arthritis. Keep abreast of all the latest findings, research and information related to fellow arthritis sufferers and the disease itself. As they say, being well informed is akin to winning half the battle!

Tip #4: Talk About It.

Keep your friends and family aware when living with arthritis becomes a challenge, or when you are frustrated with the disease. Educate them as well, since the more they know the more they will be able to assist you as well. Find local support groups and meet up with people who have arthritis and share your burden.

Tip #5: Size Does Matter!

Make sure that your support devices do fit you properly. Those suffering from arthritis need even more foot, ankle and joint support than most. Invest wisely in a pair of orthopedic shoes and you’ll notice the difference almost as soon as you make the purchase!

Tip #6: Stretch It Out.

Remember that a well-oiled machine works better. Stretch the joints that you use the most as this makes your body work better, you’ll be making your disease easier to manage. Try to focus on the larger joints (knees, ankles, hips, back) at least once a day for a feline-like stretch to invigorate the mind, body and spirit.

Read more about natural joint supplements and how to take better control of your arthritis at: http://theonlinepharmacy.blogspot.com Glucosamine and Chondroitin are magic drugs for people suffering from arthritis and read more about them at Arthritis Natural Remedies.

Article by Jonathan Mitchell There is many information about rheumatoid arthritis available in medical books and online spread over many websites. You can find all the facts, regular medical treatments and alternative treatment online and you can even try to diagnose yourself by doing research online.

It is alway good to do your own thinking but to confirm your thoughts you need to see a physician who can do some blood test for rheumatoid arthritis and treat you properly.

There are a number of different blood test for rheumatoid arthritis, and they all give answerers to different specifications and questions. They are all important for the diagnostic evaluation and eventually the treatment of this debilitating disease.

The blood tests are designed to locate the disease and confirm if what you where thinking was right. Without these blood tests a good diagnoses is not possible because they are the most important indicators to determine the condition.

There are four categories of blood test for rheumatoid arthritis:

erythrocyte sedimentation rate

C-reactive protein

rheumatoid factor

plasma viscosity

The first test called Erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) tells the degree of inflammation in your body. This is done by a specific test where the blood is let to fall down a tube and measuring the time it takes to fall, if the blood falls very fast trough the tube it indicates an inflammation somewhere in the body. When you are healthy the sedimentation rate is normally low. The results of this test points to a major inflammation somewhere in the body, the test is not specific to a disease like arthritis but it gives one of the clues for the diagnosis.

The blood test for C-reactive protein works almost the same as the ESR. It also isn’t that specific but it still shows if irritation is existing or not in your body.

The Rheumatoid factor test is positive with 70-90 percent of all people with rheumatoid arthritis. But this test has a big disadvantage, it will only be positive if your condition is severe.

The plasma viscosity test is a recent type of diagnostic procedure which replaces ESR tests rapidly. The advantage of this test over ESR is that there are fewer variables which can affect the result, so it can give a more direct impression of the plasma protein content of a sample.

Blood tests for rheumatoid arthritis are essential

Your doctor will probably use more than one type of blood test to come to the right diagnosis. The tests have proved as an effective and essential tool to do this. The tests have been used in many hospitals and laboratory to help the physician to find the cause of symptoms.

It is of the utmost importance that before you subject yourself to any procedure you know if there are any preparations prior to the test. If there are instructions you should follow, you need to follow them precisely because laboratory workers are knowledgeable with these instructions. You should also keep your physician well informed about the results of test and the way you are reaction on any treatment.

A Guide to Septic Arthritis

There are many different forms of arthritis that are presently known over, over 100 different types in fact, and one of these types is Septic arthritis.

Septic arthritis which is also commonly referred to as infectious arthritis is a type of arthritis that is caused by a bacterial, fungal or viral infection, and which is usually considered as being an acute condition.

It most frequently affects the knees, hips, shoulders, wrists, and finger joints, although any part of the body can be affected. As well, although septic arthritis can develop in anyone, it most often occurs in people who have undergone recent surgery, or who have had traumatic injury to a joint, because these are situations in which infection often takes place.

Signs and Symptoms

In the case of this form of arthritis over any other, it is critical to watch out for the different signs and symptoms, so that you can notice it as soon as possible if you happen to develop it. Most patients with septic arthritis present a single swollen joint with pain on active or passive movement.

However in seeding arthritis, which is basically a more advanced form of this, several joints can be affected simultaneously, and this is actually quite a common occurrence if the infection that caused the arthritis was caused by staphylococcus or gonoccus bacteria.

Diagnosis and Treatment

Your physisican will be the one to make the diagnosis of the septic arthritis condition, which they will do once a routine examination has been performed, and antibiotic treatment is the most typically recommended, and should be started empirically without waiting for the final results of the culture test that was performed during the examination. This is because septic arthritis, if left untreated, can become incredibly dangerous to a patient’s health, so it is vital to begin treatment as soon as it is even suspected.

The duration of this antibiotic treatment will depend on the severity of your case as well as on how long you have been suffering from the arthritis from, and you will be able to work together with your doctor in order to determine this.

Just make sure that you are aware of what particular antibiotics you are being prescribed before taking them, and especially be sure of the side effects and symptoms that are possible to come from it.

Once you have started on the treatment, it is vital that you keep in touch with your doctor and let them know how you are feeling on a daily basis, and whether you are improving or not.

Foods That Help With Rheumatoid Arthritis

Everyone knows that a healthy diet is the key to living a healthy life. However, what many people don’t know is that it can also play a huge role in the risk of developing arthritis.

A person’s diet directly affects their weight and food allergies, both of which are directly related to arthritis. Eating healthfully is a key way of both preventing and managing arthritis.

One major way that diet is related to arthritis, is that it directly affects your body weight. Body weight is a major risk factor for arthritis. The risk is quite simple to understand: the more that one weighs, the higher their risk of developing arthritis. Yet, this phenomenon is not so simple to control in real life.

When someone develops arthritis due to their weight, it puts immense stress on their joints. This makes it difficult to move and walk, let alone exercise.

Many obese or overweight people who are affected by arthritis often adopt a sedentary lifestyle—and yet, this only makes the problem worse. The vicious cycle is extremely difficult to deal with. Osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis patients are commonly affected by this never-ending cycle.

It is more important than ever to monitor your diet if you have arthritis, because having arthritis makes exercise nearly impossible! You can begin managing your arthritis through a diet by avoiding alcohol, sodium, fat, cholesterol, and sugar.

Allergic Reactions

Another reason to monitor your diet when you have arthritis, is because certain foods can trigger arthritis flares. Certain foods can impact the immune system, and affect the production of anti-inflammatory compounds. Rashes, hives, and asthma are all allergic reactions that could indicate that you have consumed a food that is also an arthritis flare.

There are several other foods that could possibly cause an arthritis flare or worsen arthritis. These foods include: red meats, chocolate, additives and preservatives, caffeine, salt, and dairy products.

Tips On What To Eat

If you have arthritis and are trying to manage your diet, there are a few tips that could be of help. First of all, snack on grapes, pineapples, and other fruits. Many fruits contain the compound resveratrol, which is known for blocking cell inflammation. Additionally, eating vegetables, especially broccoli, is known to reduce inflammation. Fish is also a good choice because it is high in omega-3 fatty acids, which can help to decrease inflammation.

Under Control

For people who suffer from arthritis, diet might seem like an unnecessary thing to worry about. Yet, the relationship between diet and arthritis is quite clear. Your diet is a modifiable risk factor for arthritis—and it could be something you need to change.

Neck Arthritis Can Spread Pain Around The Body

For many people, cervical spondylosis can be a real pain the neck, as it is the result of the degeneration of the padding with the disks in the back in the cervical spine.

This form of neck arthritis is the most prevalent cause of neck pain and is most common in the older population. Typically, in patients over 60, about 75 percent of men and women suffer from some form of neck arthritis. While the aging process is the most common cause of this problem, a neck injury that may have occurred several years prior, can also be blamed.

Cervical spondylosis, also known as cervical osteoarthritis or neck arthritis, is a degenerative condition cause by the unusual wearing of the bones in the neck and the loss of cartilage, which cushions the vertebrae in the neck.

Neck pain can also be caused by bone spurs on the bones that can break off an work their way into the cartilage. The loss of cartilage also creates an open space between the vertebrae into which nerves can be compressed, causing additional pain in other extremities.

Pain the neck, arms and back can result from this nerve interaction and if the spinal cord is affected by neck arthritis, the pain can also make its way into the legs. In addition to the pain caused by neck arthritis, a loss of feeling may also be experienced.

Non-Surgical Neck Arthritis Treatments

For persons in the first stages of neck arthritis, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications can help ease the pain, but one of the principal concerns is to prevent damage to the nerves and the spinal cord.

In some cases, a neck brace may be needed to stabilize the neck area and prevent awkward movements. As the conditions worsen, holding the neck still with a cervical brace may be recommended and cortisone injections into the affected part of the cervical spine may relieve some of the pain.

In more severe cases of neck arthritis, hospitalization may be required with a traction device to prevent the neck from moving and causing nerve and spinal cord damage. In these case, while hospitalized with neck arthritis, a person may be given muscle relaxers and narcotic pain relievers.

As a last ditch effort, doctors may recommend surgical intervention of reclaim the space between the vertebrae. Surgery may also be needed to remove any bone chips or fragments what have moved into the space vacated by the degenerated cartilage.
